August heralds the games of the XXIX Olympiad in Beijing. The 2008 Olympic slogan, “One World One Dream,” captures the spirit of the games and our universal yearning for peace and unity. Let’s celebrate the Olympics and the life of the Vivante community!

Friday, Aug. 1, 5-7 p.m. - Cabana/Poolside
First Friday Happy Hour
Begin your weekend activities by attending happy hour with your neighbors. This is also an ideal opportunity to introduce your friends to the Vivante lifestyle. Please bring your favorite CDs, snacks and beverages to share.

Beijing Summer Olympics Celebration
Let the games Begin! Plan to attend an Olympic-themed event at the Clubhouse. We’ll begin with a Chinese buffet. Please bring a large portion (enough to serve 12 people) of your favorite Chinese food (appetizer, side or main dish) ready to serve and share. After dinner, we'll move the party over to the Media Room to view the opening ceremony of the 2008 Olympic Games that will begin at exactly 8:08 p.m. on Aug. 8. Hmm… how clever are the Chinese to even coordinate the date and the start time! Be sure to wear something red, the symbolic color of China, and the dominant color of the 2008 Olympics emblem, Dancing Beijing.

Friday, Aug. 15 6:30 p.m. Happy Hour – Clubroom 7:30 p.m. Dinner
A Taste of Punta Gorda
Join your Vivante friends for dinner at Santhino’s Restaurant, one of Punta Gorda’s new fine restaurants. We’ll start with beverages at the Clubhouse and then carpool over to the restaurant. We hope this event will evolve into a regular monthly dinner date group. Bon appetite!

Girls Night Out
Dashing divas, get set for a fun evening of pampering at the Spa! Jeanne Steele is hosting an evening just for the girls. Hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be provided and a complete menu of spa amenities will be available at discounted prices. No makeup required and dress casual (ready to participate in the sauna, fitness center or pool if you choose). Don’t miss this opportunity to spend some special time with your girlfriends.
